1 best knockout from every major MMA promotion (Video)

As a lifelong MMA fan and avid follower of the sport, I can confidently say that knockouts are the most thrilling moments in mixed martial arts. There’s nothing quite like the adrenaline rush of watching two athletes go toe-to-toe, trying to land the perfect strike that will put their opponent down for the count. In this piece, I’ll be sharing my personal favorite knockouts from each of the six major MMA promotions: UFC, Bellator, PFL, ONE Championship, RIZIN, and Invicta. I’ve watched countless fights over the years, and these are the ones that stand out to me.

As a long-time fan of MMA, I can’t help but be drawn to the thrill and excitement that knockouts bring to the sport. Having attended numerous live events and watched countless fights on television, I can confidently say that nothing compares to the adrenaline rush of seeing a fighter go down in a spectacular fashion.

RIZIN – Yusuke Yachi vs. Daron Cruickshank

At RIZIN 2017 in Yokohama, Japan, the preliminary bout between Yusuke Yachi and Daron Cruickshank took place early in the event, limited to only two rounds. In the opening round at approximately 5:11, Yachi delivered a powerful right hook that knocked out Cruickshank, causing his head to slump dangerously over the ropes.

ONE Championship – Adriano Moraes vs. Demetrious Johnson 1

At their initial encounter on April 7, 2021, Adriana Moraes and Demetrious Johnson clashed with significant stakes. The ONE Championship flyweight championship was at risk, and Johnson aimed to validate his exit from the UFC as a successful move. This bout marked the first event televised by TNT Sports for ONE Championship. In the second round, however, Johnson experienced an unexpected defeat when Moraes delivered a devastating knee strike. Since then, they have faced off twice more, with Johnson emerging victorious in both subsequent matches.

Invicta – Chantel Coates vs. Ashlynn Kleinbeck

At the women’s MMA fights, spectacular knockouts aren’t commonplace but when they occur, they add an extra layer of excitement. A perfect example is Chantel Coates’ astonishing knockout of Ashlynn Kleinbeck in a mere 28 seconds during Invicta 33 on December 15, 2018.

Bellator – Michael ‘Venom’ Page vs. Cyborg Santos

Bellator has showcased numerous exhilarating knockouts throughout its history, leaving me pondering which one to highlight. I ultimately chose Michael “Venom” Page versus Cyborg Santos (July 16, 2016, London) due to the dramatic skull fracture. The world winced at this brutal event as Page delivered a powerful flying knee directly to Santos’ forehead, causing an instant knockout. Later examinations revealed that Santos had suffered a significant skull crack. A word of caution: viewers with sensitive constitutions should proceed with caution when watching the replay.

PFL – Movlid Khaybulaev vs. Damon Jackson

At the second Professional Fighter’s League event in 2019, Movlid Khaybulaev and Damon Jackson faced off for a spot in the semifinals. Since PFL is relatively new compared to other promotions, I’ve chosen their rapid knockouts as a standout feature. In an astonishingly quick 10 seconds, Khaybulaev delivered a jaw-dropping jumping knee KO, sending Jackson crashing to the mat and igniting the crowd in excitement.

UFC – Joaquin Buckley vs. Impa Kasanganay

During the Joaquin Buckley and Impa Kasanganay fight, Buckley delivered a remarkable knockout that stands out due to its uniqueness and scarcity. This unprecedented move wasn’t replicated before or since. While attempting to kick Kasanganay, he unexpectedly seized Buckley’s foot. In most cases, this would mark the end of the exchange. However, Buckley surprised everyone by spinning around swiftly and striking Kasanganay in the face while still holding onto his leg, rendering him unconscious instantly. The breathtaking moment quickly gained widespread attention online and remains among the most popular knockouts in UFC history.
