Disney’s Zootopia 2 has made history in China, becoming the highest-grossing Hollywood movie ever in the Chinese box office, surpassing Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame.
The animated sequel has now earned $632.2 million in China after just over two months in theaters. This makes it China’s highest-grossing film of all time, surpassing the previous record of $632.1 million held by Endgame. The film has maintained strong ticket sales for nine weeks straight.

The movie has made around $1.744 billion worldwide, with over $624.6 million coming from theaters in China and around $401 million from North America. It’s incredible to see such international appeal!
Jared Bush, the head of creative at Disney Animation, shared that Disney collaborated with teams around the world to adjust the script for local audiences. He explained that these teams didn’t just translate the jokes and story, but actually changed them to better suit each region. This means viewers in different parts of the world might experience entirely different puns and humor tailored specifically for them.
Critics are loving Zootopia 2, giving it a 91% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Audiences agree, with a score of 96%. The movie follows Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde as they investigate a puzzling new case involving a mysterious reptile who throws the city into chaos.
Zootopia 2 has become one of Disney’s biggest animated hits, earning over $1.7 billion worldwide and proving especially popular in China.
